Good monitoring tells you what changed, what is broken, and what to do next.

A useful monitoring setup does not drown people in alerts. It helps them answer three questions quickly: what happened, how bad is it, and what should I check first?

Metrics show the shape of the system. Logs show the details. Alerts should point to something that needs attention, not just repeat noisy thresholds all night.

If a dashboard looks impressive but nobody trusts it during an incident, it is not doing its job. The best monitoring is the kind that makes the next step obvious.
